In December 2015 the film Land and Sons was screened in the Faroe Islands, in a double bill with Rams, which now is charming audiences round the world. Land and Sons is often seen as the beginning of the so-called “Film Spring” of Iceland, the period immediately after the Icelandic Film Fund was established by the Althing in 1978. The main reasons for the double-bill might be that Sigurdur Sigurjónsson plays the lead in both movies, a young farmer’s son in the first and an elderly sheep-farmer in the second.
